An automated decision is one where the decision is made solely by the computer system without a human having the final say. For sensitive decisions such as medical or military applications, many prefer there to be a human in the loop at very least to veto or put a check on the automated decisions. Humans are almost always still involved in fully automated decisions, either in supplying data or executing the actions. For example, in applications such as Uber or Lyft the decision about which car is sent to which client is completely automated even though humans drive the cars.
